  • We went to the LA Auto show Sunday.  I've been to my fair share of auto shows now, and there are definitely a few things I've learned:

    1. Go early - avoid those darn crowds so you can sit in more cars
    2. Take a deep breath when someone has their 4 year old sitting in the driver's seat for the last 5 minutes.... or while a lady fiddles with the cup holders
    3. Hand sanitizer is a must!  Too many jimmy-germs...
    4. Don't eat overpriced food - bring something from home.

The most HILARIOUS thing at the auto show was a company had a lady on the turning platform, explaining the features and benefits.  Well, there were only 2 little old people standing there listening!

That would be funny on its own, but then I noticed also spinning on the platform with the sales person was a sign language interpreter!!!  She was signing away the sales pitch......................to NO ONE!  How sad.... but it was really funny.  I had to wait to laugh until we wandered from that company, and then could cry my eyes out from laughing!

I'm sooooooooooooooo looking forward to Thanksgiving!  We're getting together with some people and having a potluck :)  Good Times!

  • I saw something completely disturbing yesterday..... I really hate pigeons, doves, seagulls, anything that flocks and grazes trash.

I was in the desert yesterday waiting at a stoplight.  When the light turned green, the oncoming traffic started moving towards a flock of pigeons... the pigeons darted up to avoid the traffic.  Unfortunately one didn't make it, and hit a windshield with a puff of feathers.  The pigeon, miraculously, survived, but couldn't fly away.  It just sat on the pavement.  When another lane of traffic took off, I glanced in my rear-view mirror and ...... sniff......  my heart broke for a few seconds.... poor mr. pigeon.

In other news, I'm obsessed with cucumber.  I need to slice a few before I eat it - you know, for my eyes.

  • We tried a new recipe last night - Indian Cashew Chicken (we used tofu) - and it was delicious.  Our apartment should smell like it for the next few days.  Yum :)

Blake finishes OB/Gyn this week with an oral exam today and a written test Friday.  It's hard to switch from hospital rotations to book studying, but he'll be glad when that's over!  Next week starts surgery (yikes!), where we're guaranteed to glide along with little to no sleep.  That goes all the way until Christmas..... that's a long time........ but it will be nice to get one of the two longest/hardest rotations done.

I've been slowly entering some of my favorite recipes into a new program on our computer.  I'm mainly doing it to create shopping lists.  That is wonderful.  I don't really use it for cooking.  I like the magazine rip-outs and cookbooks.

How boring a life I do lead, when my major excitement is entering recipes and creating grocery shopping lists....

  • The initial sewing project went extremely well!  My new apron has only a few crooked seams and a snaggly thread here and there, but all in all, successful!  I have so much excess fabric (not sure how that happened) that I might make some placemats and napkins.

We're anxiously awaiting our newest addition - our new iMac computer!  Super excited. Should be fun to play around with.  I found a pretty neat program that tracks/saves all of my recipes and helps create menus and shopping lists.  Can't get any either than that!

Life chugs along.  Blake is doing OB/GYN, so he's delivering babies and closing up people after c-sections.  Very cool.  But the hours are interesting.  We're on the 3rd week of waking up at 3:45, in bed by 7:30.  You know you're in bed WAY too early when it's still light outside and you can hear the neighborhood children still playing outside.  It brings back memories as a kid having to go to bed early when all my friends were still playing.

Today is a slightly weird day.  I have to stick around at home until either the UPS man drops off our computer, or until Blake gets home.  I hate days off on Monday - it really sets a lazy tone for the rest of the week.

Speaking of UPS, I get a delivery by them basically every other day because of work.  We finally know what our UPS man's name is.  Calling him "UPS Man" was getting annoying since he knew our names.  He even goes to the same church as we do!  So weird.

Two posts rather close together.  That means no new posts until December.  Tootles!
